Kurbingui Youth & Family Development (‘Kurbingui’ or the ‘organisation’) is a registered Not-For-Profit (NFP) Aboriginal community-based organisation and a Company Limited by Guarantee operating throughout the Greater Brisbane, South East and Moreton Bay regions with connections to First Nation Communities throughout QLD and nationwide. Kurbingui programs are funded by government and non-government grants as well as self-managed revenue services and activities. The organisation is governed by a Board of Directors elected and appointed from members of the community.
Kurbingui delivers a range of programs and services aimed at improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. These programs and services contribute to the cultural, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a strong focus on addressing isolation, social emotional wellbeing, poverty, discrimination, family issues and unemployment through the provision of case management, therapeutic support, outreach, community development, education, training, community events and activities.
Kurbingui partners with the three levels of government, other not-for-profit organisations, agencies, Elders and community members. Our staff members undertake their duties as a collaborative team working to the organisation’s policies, procedures, relevant legislation and professional practice standards. Our teams are flexible, multi-skilled and work effectively and sensitively with a diverse range of individuals, multi-disciplinary groups and community agencies to ensure high quality and culturally safe services to our community members.
We are in the establishment stages of our NDIS services and looking for a highly-motivated Coordinator to join our team.
NDIS Service Delivery Coordinator – program start-up and implementation
Our NDIS program is in the early stages, and we have participants ready to utilise our services. As such, the role will initially comprise two key areas of responsibility:
- Coordination – manage referrals, service agreements, supervise and roster the support work team, administration and submitting information for invoicing, reporting, and monitor / review requirements; AND
- Support Work – deliver a high standard of individualised supports to NDIS participants. (this would only be in the initial stage of engagement if no support worker was readily available upon commencement with our service) envisage this would be minimal
This role will be perfect for someone who enjoys leading an effective team as well as undertaking the hands-on support work if required.
At this stage we are a service delivery based provider.
The role – NDIS Service Delivery Coordinator
The role of Coordinator is to coordinate the effective running of the NDIS program and services through the following:
- Recruitment of support workers
- Developing and monitoring service agreements
- Onboarding of participants and new support workers
- Submitting relevant information for invoicing
- Liaising with participants and their representatives
- Staff supervision
- Leading a team of support workers
- Maintaining an effective rostering system
- Managing referrals, undertake intake and assessments and regular reviews
- Lead team meetings
- Performance reviews
- Promoting, developing and growing the NDIS service
- Report-writing
- Using quality date systems to record information
To be successful in the role, you will (Key Selection Criteria):
- Highly desirable – Identify as an Aboriginal & or Torres Strait Islander person.
- Have an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society.
- Tertiary qualifications in Allied Health or Community Service related fields and/or extensive experience working in Community and/or Mental Health Services.
- Comprehensive understanding and knowledge regarding NDIS, importantly compliance, rostering & invoicing and the use of quality data management systems.
- Team leadership experience, ideally within NDIS services or support work setting.
- Previous experience as a support worker, and a compassionate approach to work.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in conducting safety and risk assessments.
- Thorough understanding of supporting participants that may present with severe and complex mental health challenges/trauma.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in computer skills, particularly word processing skills and data management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute as part of a team to provide a safe, equitable and rewarding workplace.
- Report-writing skills.
- Prior to support workers being allocated to participants, the Coordinator may need the ability to work a variety of shifts such as morning, day, afternoon, evening, nights, weekends, and public holidays. (We envisage there would be minimal need for this as we will recruit support workers to suit referrals as they come in)
Qualifications/Certifications
- Highly Desirable – qualifications and/or equal professional experience in mental health, disability, aged care, allied health, social work, community services, or enrolled in a certificate 3 minimum Individual Support or Disability.
- Desirable-knowledge of NDIS quality data systems eg: flow logic
- Mandatory – current Drivers Licence (QLD)
- Mandatory – possession of, or ability to obtain, a ‘Positive Notice’ Blue card – must be obtained / provided prior to commencement
- Mandatory – current Yellow Card or Working in Disability Screening check
- Mandatory – evidence of COVID vaccination or contraindication must be provided prior to commencement
- National Police Check or willing to undertake
- First Aid and CPR – or willingness to obtain.
